27 September 2020 World Tourism Day

The 2020 edition of World Tourism Day, with the theme of “Tourism and Rural Development”, will celebrate the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities outside of big cities and preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world.

Little did they know that an unknown virus will spring upon the whole world messing up with their plans of World Tourism Day. The entire world would have had elaborate plans of travel in 2020. But a unicellular organism – Corona Virus – erupted, multiplied and caused an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan, China in December 2019. This new strain was unknown before December 2019, but very soon everyone stood up and took notice of this novel coronavirus, it got popular. It was living the life that every celebrity desired, it was on front page of every tabloid, headlines on every e-newspaper, topic of conversation on all types of social media.

So, how do we celebrate the World Tourism Day under such circumstances. Tourism industry has borne the brunt of Covid-19 Pandemic in all countries of the world. Do we stop traveling? How long will we remained confined to our city? My suggestion is that you may travel, if you follow these methods while traveling. Why should we follow precautions? Because It is possible that people may return from a trip without any symptoms of the coronavirus or health issues, but they may still be infected and spread the virus to others. Hence, please read on.

  • Take care of your mental and physical health – Exercise and a nourishing diet consisting of local superfoods. Do not use a lot of imported food products. Consume what is grown by the local farmers
  • Maintain social distancing. Avoid crowds.
  • Perform hand hygiene frequently – Clean hands with soap and water or with alcohol based rub.
  • Mask are absolutely necessary – mainly to refrain from touching your mouth and nose. Also reduces the disease spreading virus from entering your body through these respiratory organs
  • Stay in a place with good hygiene and cleanliness – ensure the staff is also following social distancing and practicing personal hygiene.
  • If possible, pack as much home cooked food as you can, to avoid eating out during travel.

Travel if you desire, travel if it is unavoidable. But Remember TRAVEL SENSIBLY AND RESPONSIBLY TO ENSURE SAFETY of THE COMMUNITY.
