Jawai Bandh

By Nitya Shah

Foreword by Ripa – Presenting yet another young lad, Nitya Shah : a talented 12-year-old boy who has befriended the pen and paper and taken to writing at such a tender age.

Earlier on this blog, we have published a travel story written by a teenager Yash Parekh. It is amazing to encourage the talents of these young adults, who are our future. Enjoy the Jawai Bandh trip in Nitya’s words.

Let me first give a brief introduction on Jawai. Jawai is a small village named after the Jawai river. It is located near the Jawai Bandh (dam) in the Pali district in Rajasthan. It is also known for its sanctuaries for leopards, birds and crocodiles. During winter hundreds of migratory birds flock here calling Jawai their home. Definitely to be included in your itinerary during your Rajasthan visit.

Travel Diaries – Jawai Trip

Every human loves changes in routine life. People try to make their mind happy and fresh by travelling. We love to travel with our friends.

Last year, we spent lifetime memorable Christmas vacation at Jawai. Jawai forest is situated around Jawai Sagar Dam catchment area. It is well-known for leopard sanctuary.

We went there by Volvo bus around 41 km from Ahmedabad. We booked one of the best resort “Jawai resort” located in between the Jawai Sagar forest.

After having High tea at the resort we went for the open gipsy safari in search of the Leopard. It was a thrilling experience in open safari on the flat mountain of leopard’s home; we saw two leopards on the mountain. They were very near to us, they were almost just ahead of our gipsy and then went to their cave.

We did a beautiful candlelight dinner on mountain hilltop. The same night, we had a campfire in our resort. Our resort keeper told after campfire that behind campfire there was a leopard at that time. We were shocked.

Next day, early morning, we again went for open safari. We found one mother leopard with a baby leopard just beside our resort. I learnt a new thing that “if we will not harm animals, they will also not harm us”.
