Namchi – Siliguri – Bagdogra – Mumbai

Today is our last day in Sikkim, in fact last few hours remaining in this beautiful mountain state. How could we not go for a trek today? So, we get up at 5.30 and climb on top of the hill to visit one of the oldest monastary – Ngadak Gumpa. It’s a 30-40 minute walk uphill to reach the monastery. We wait the the little monks to open it, and start alighting after seeking Buddha’s blessings.

We leave around 9 am from Namchi to catch our 4 pm flight to Mumbai.

Post Gangtok trip was not planned out as meticulously as our initial part of the trip. We had decided to spend the last 3 days doing whatever we feel, as per the recommendations of the driver and other localites. Turns out to be a perfect decision as we had scope for amendments here.

Final notes

We bid adieu to Sikkim with a heavy heart. If we had more time would have spent more time in East Sikkim and Okhrey and maybe visited few more places. We could have trekked all the way to Nepal border from Okhrey and to Bhutan border from Padhamchen. Thanks to Tashi, we planned East Sikkim at the last minute and reduced one day off Gangtok. Even Okhrey found a place in our itinerary due to his recommendations. He and his friends used to trek here quite often.

Local food everywhere is awesome. Don’t get stuck on our standard food like pizza, burger, tandoori rotis and other typical North / South Indian fare here. They lack flavor compared to local food here.
