Mid-Night Run -South Mumbai

Give priority to Physical and Mental Health

“It’s our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities”: These wise words are by Albus Dumbledore in one of J K Rowling’s Harry Potter Series books. And my choice is mental and physical health over mindless binging on gadgets, food and alcohol. I have been through a phase when my mental and physical health were rock bottom, it takes determination to get over it and even higher determination to maintain it. Running is one of the many activities which helps every person – man or woman, child or adult, to achieve optimum health in both aspects.

Be Fearless

For an ideal lady’s night out – I would prefer a fitness night out anytime to a eat-drink-be-merry type. So, here I am – with my group of Pinkies (as we call our Pinkathon friends) – all buckled up in a friends car on our way to Asiatic Library where we are about to witness this beautiful event, aptly named “Reclaim the night – Be fearless”.

SoBo Run

South Mumbai (also called as SOBO) is every Mumbai’s pride. It is a reflection of Mumbai’s past under the British Raj. Beautiful monuments and buildings constructed during the British Raj still stand tall. It could be called as Mumbai’s financial district as it hosts The Reserve Bank of India, The Bombay Stock Exchange and several corporate offices. Moving about in SOBO during any time of the day would mean endless traffic, hustle and bustle on the streets, street shops selling their ware, people in and out of their offices – as if no one even has a second to spare.

The event’s flag-off is by our forever young tall-dark-handsome hunk and super model, Milind Soman. The route took us through the streets of Mumbai where we wouldn’t imagine walking at a consistent pace during day time – forget running. The run took us through Asiatic Library – Kala Ghoda – Gateway of India – Taj – U turn from Radio Club – Kala ghoda – back to Asiatic Library. Total distance was around 3.5 km.

Taj Hotel

The Taj Hotel in all its splendor stood tall and proud – witnessing the British Raj – Independence struggles – celebrity parties – terrorists attack. A quality for all human-kind to imbibe – be strong, fearless, patient – come happiness or sorrow – remember “There is dawn at the end of the night”.“Don’t be a victim – if there is injustice happening to you, stand up, stand tall – run away from your fears not from life – come closer to a beautiful thing called Life – Stay strong – use your events of the past to help you emerge as a STRONG WOMAN.”
