Planning your travel well ahead of time is very important. But equally important is to fill your time spend in commuting : long hours in flight, train, bus or car can be very tiring and takes your excitement away from the actual travel. I would highly recommend reading a good book during these times so that the excitement to explore doesn’t die down. Short stories, fiction, non-fiction – it could be anything that keeps your mind occupied. I know this is not a book blog, but I am unable to resist the urge to talk about books. A bookworm from the day I was born, I can not keep my hands off a good book once started. I have read all the good American authors of my time – fiction , self-help, short stories, true stories and whatever I could lay my hands upon.
Then I got so occupied in my personal life that I forgot what a good book smells like. Off late I have rekindled my love for books and started reading works by Indian authors. Recently, I googled all the current generation Indian authors and their works, I was pleasently surprised how the Indian reading audience is changing and how Indian authors are emerging fore-runners in the Literature Industry. Surprisingly, most authors are not from Literature background – Chetan Bhagat (IIT, IITM alumni), Ravinder Singh (Engineer, ISB graduate), Ashwin Sanghi (Owner of Sanghi Motors, Mercedz benz dealer), Twinkle Khanna (actress/ wife of Akshay kumar) – to name a few. They started their career in a different profession, in parallel would write books, and eventually quit their jobs to make writing as their full time profession.
I am now all geared up to explore this whole new generation of Indian authors. And be assured friends, would surely post reviews here so as to assist you choose books for your travel
