I take the red Line 1 metro from Glories to Placa Catalunya. I roam about the Placa Catalunya, exploring several stores. Now I am confused as to which mode of transport will take me to Tibidabo. I go to several train stations like Renfe and they all tell me that my HOLA BCN card is not valid with them as they are different operators.

Then right in front of the Desigual store I see a bus stop for Tibibus T2A and waited in there. a few more join me and after talking to one Turkish girl, I found out that this bus costs Euro 3. I am not willing to pay extra especially since I have the HOLA card. Then google comes to my rescue (for some reason I don’t see any travel desk close-by) and I figure out another way to get to Tibidabo using my Hola card. Firstly, I have to locate the station for metro lines S1 and S2. This comes easily to me : Being a regular traveler in Mumbai local trains, I am a pro at changing from one line to another and reading maps and connections.

So, I study the maps of S1 and S2, figure out which train would be leaving first and get into it. The stop to get down to catch the tibidabo funicular is called “Peu del Funicular”. I come out of the subway at this stop, without leaving the station go up the stairs to Funicular Vallvidrera Inferior. This funicular takes me to the upper station of Funicular Vallvidrera. Right outside the funicular station, there is a stop for bus # 111, which takes me right in front of the church. All this travel experience, all included in my HOLA, no need to spend extra on tickets. The Funiculur is worth experiencing, do not miss it for anything – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

https://life-globe.com/en/how-to-get-to-tibidabo/ this explains you in detail the different ways to go to Tibidabo. I discovered this link after my visit. If I had known this before it would have saved my 40 mins in figuring out the mode of transport. But if you have a HOLA card, then the route you follow is L1 – Placa Catalunya – S1/S2 – Peu Del Funicular -Funicular Vallvidrera Inferior – Funicular Vallvidrera Superior – Bus 111 – Tibidabo. or alternately you can take bus 111 from Placa Catalunya which will directly take you to mount tibidabo.

The bus route from Funicular Vallvidrera superior to the temple is beautiful. This is place where the rich of Barcelona stay – the mansions they have built for themselves are beautiful. A pleasing ride. So, finally I reach tibidabo – most beautiful place in Barcelona, I would say for sure. The view from the top is breath-taking and the temple is very beautiful. The temple is called Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor – Roman catholic church and minor basilica. I roam about for an hour, take pictures and all kind of touristy things. But then traveling solo does get a little boring. So, I stand in the queue for the bus in hope of getting back home/ hotel. I think next time I go solo, I should carry food and books, so that I can eat and read at such places and spend some more time.

I reach hotel about 4 pm. Post lunch I decide to explore the area around the hotel. So just a long walk, then tram # T4 to Diagonal Mar. Here I do some shopping for kids from Primark, C& A, H & M and end my day with some retail therapy
